About Me

Hi, I'm Maddy and I am the artist behind Valley Bear Studios. 

I am a third-generation Navajo silversmith. My grandparents started their jewelry business over 50 years ago. Now I make jewelry as well, using traditional techniques that have been passed down through our family.

Sterling silver jewelry is a very large part of the Navajo culture, dating back to 1700s. It is a great privilege to contribute pieces of me to the culture as a whole, and to people who appreciate the cultural significance. 

Every piece I make is made slowly and intentionally, with heirloom quality in mind. My work is intended to last and be enjoyed for many years.
